New Hampshire Health and Human Services Issues Report on Hepatitis C Outbreak
After more than a year-long investigation, the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services has issued a report concerning last summer’s hepatitis C outbreak at Exeter Hospital. The report notes that three main areas of improvement are required in order to prevent another outbreak in the future. The areas of concern are regulating health care workers, preventing and detecting drug diversion and communication between hospitals and state officials. Forty-seven people have been identified as carrying the same strain of the virus as David Kwiatkowski, the former medical technician who faces a criminal trial in January 2014.
