Medical Malpractice

Medical Malpractice

Medical malpractice is the failure of healthcare professionals including doctors, nurses, anesthesiologists, and others to provide an accepted standard of care.  Malpractice can be an act or an omission that generally results in harm to the patient who had every right to expect a certain standard of care.

In New Hampshire, any potential medical malpractice claim filed in a New Hampshire Superior Court must be screened by a three-person panel consisting of a retired judge or person with judicial experience, a health care practitioner who practices in the area of alleged medical negligence, and an attorney before the cases can proceed to trial.  If you’re interested in reading more about how these screening panels affects a consumer’s rights and fair access to the courts, please click here read our thoughts on the subject.

In spite of the burdens imposed upon ordinary New Hampshire citizens by the screening panels, we’ve had a history of success in obtaining justice for our clients injured by medical malpractice.  In this section, we’ll provide you a brief outline of the different types of medical malpractice including birth injuries, brain injuries, failures to diagnose cancer, heart attack, and stroke.  We’ll also give you a synopsis of some of the real cases we’ve handled as well as their outcomes.

At Abramson, Brown & Dugan, we’re proud of our long history representing those injured by medical malpractice.
